The Martin Luther King Center on Cora Street in Lafayette Louisiana  would be considered by many an ideal place to remember Kim Perrot http://klfy.com/2015/01/06/kim-perott-basketball-court-proposal-presented-to-lcg-council/ .  This basketball court is where Perrot’s dreams played out. Loretta Perrot is Kim’s big sister.  “I believe in my she had a mission from God.  He allowed her to be without any pain and suffering.  When the cancer overcame her she just went through it. She was a true soldier.””
Loretta believes her sister’s love for the game lives on. “She fought for this court every day.  Since I’ve been here they would say Loretta we love your sister, but I couldn’t stand to play with her when we were here playing teams.  I would say if I’m not on Kim’s team, then I’m not playing.  She’s not going to guard me” says Perrot.
Kim is a former Acadiana High basketball player, UL Lafayette player and WNBA point guard.  Loretta says naming the basketball court after her sister is fitting.  “She made it to the WNBA Houston Comets and went on to lead the team into 2 championships.  Then she was sick of course through the third championship, but the Houston Comets went on to when their third championship and they did the 3 for 10 in  Kim Perrot honor.
Councilman Brandon Shelvin says as we recognize those on the national level for their accomplishments, let’s not forget our local role models. “Make sure the kids that didn’t even watch her play basketball and that were not even born when Kim was around to know what Kim represented.  What she was about.  What impact she made in this world for this particular area for Lafayette and for the Truman area,” notes Shelvin.<iframe scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen src="http://up.anv.bz/latest/anvload.html?key=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"  width ="640" height="360"></iframe>
