Dear Participant,

We invite your team to participate in the first annual Kim Perrot Vision of Life (KPVOL) Basketball Tournament. The KPVOL organization, Lafayette Parks and Recreation and tournament sponsors take great pride and effort in providing a tournament that is fun, competitive and well organized.

The tournament will be held Saturday August 1^st – Sunday August 2^nd 2015 at the Martin Luther King Center, located at 309 Cora St. Lafayette Louisiana 70501. Games will be played during the hours of 10:00am-7:30pm on both days.

The tournament is limited to a total of 32 teams, 5 to 8 players per team. We encourage you to return the pre-registration form and $480.00 ($60.00 per participant money order only no cash) entry fee as soon as possible to assure your team a spot in the tournament. Entry deadline is Friday July 17^th, 2015 or until 32 team entries are received. All proceeds will go toward the The Kim Perrot Vision of Life Enrichment Programs and Kim Perrot Scholarship Fund. We look forward to your participation in the first annual Kim Perrot Vision of Life Basketball Tournament.

African American History Parade 2015 Honoree Kim Perrot

The African American History Foundation would like to recognize the late Kim Perrot as one of the honorees for the 12th Annual Black History Parade .Kim Perrot was an American basketball player. She played in the WNBA for the Houston Comets.Perrot attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette), and played four years there as a guard. In one game against the University of Southeastern Louisiana, she scored 58 points, the second most in NCAA history. Kim passed away in 1999 after her battle with cancer. Her family will be there to help us celebrate her legacy. Join us in congratulating the late Kim Perrot as 2015 Parade Honoree.

KPVOL After-school 4 All program is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of after-school programs and advocating for quality, affordable programs for all children. The KPVOL After-school 4 all is supported by a group of public, private and non-profit organizations that share  a common vision of ensuring that all youth have access to affordable, quality after-school and expanded learning programs. Creating more after-school programs, increasing program quality and moving toward long-term sustainability requires building strong public will in support of after-school and expanded learning. KPVOL After-school 4 All is a program created to better the community.

Kim Perrot grew up in the Truman Addition neighborhood. A tough competitor, consummate professional, a great heart and an amazing person were words used to describe Houston Comets point guard Kim Perrot after her death, the Houston Comets went on to win a third straight WNBA title, and celebrated what the team called "#3 for #10". She was posthumously awarded a third championship ring, her #10 jersey was retired, thus making her the first player in league history to have her number retired. The WNBA subsequently renamed their sportsmanship award in her honor. Her grave at Our Lady of the Assumption Cemetery in Carencro, Louisiana, bears the following inscription: God Wanted Me Now. Faith, Hope, Love, Charity & Family."
Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Names Kim Perrot among eight athletic greats chosen for the 2007 induction. University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL) retired the Kim Perrot (1985-1990) #12 Jersey on February 26, 1998. Named to the LSWA's 20-woman All-Century Team, Perrot starred at then-USL in her Lafayette hometown from 1986-90, played for Team USA and overseas and was a standout in the WNBA in its first two years, helping lead the Comets to back-to-back titles as starting point guard. She is also credited for inspiring the Comets to a third title the next year after being stricken with cancer and passing away in August of 1999. Perrot is entrenched into both the UL and NCAA record book, as the Cajuns' all-time leading scorer (2,157 points), assists leader (654) and steals leader (421) along with ranking fifth on the rebounding list. She still holds 26 school records and holds six of UL's top seven all-time scoring performances including a 58-point effort against Southeastern Louisiana that ranks as the second-highest single-game scoring total in NCAA history. She led the nation in scoring in 1989-90 (30.0/game) and is listed in 11 different NCAA categories. Both her UL No. 12 jersey and her Comets No. 10 jersey are retired, and the children's treatment center at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is named "Kim's Place" in honor of the former All-State performer at Acadiana High.
